NDRRA ACTIVATIONS

NDRRA relief measures have been activated for communities within Central and Western Queensland affected by flooding and rainfall.  Commencing on 18 February 2014, a monsoon trough impacted Central Queensland. A second monsoon trough impacted Western Queensland over the following week.

Restoration of Essential Public Assets (REPA) relief measures were activated for the:

  • Barcaldine Regional Council.
  • Barcoo Shire Council.
  • Blackall-Tambo Shire Council.
  • Boulia Shire Council.
  • Bulloo Shire Council.
  • Central Highlands Regional Council.
  • Flinders Shire Council.
  • Longreach Regional Council.
  • Winton Shire Council.

REPA can assist state and local governments to restore or replace eligible uninsured essential public assets damaged as a direct result of the disaster. Counter Disaster Operations (CDO) were also activated for Barcaldine, Blackall-Tambo, Boulia, Central Highlands and Flinders local government areas. CDO activities are (only) those undertaken by Local and State government agencies to provide direct assistance to, and in the protection of, the general public immediately before, during and in the after a disaster event.  Assistance includes reimbursement of extraordinary disaster management costs, emergent public health and safety matters, private debris clearing and consumables (eg. tarps, sandbags and ropes).  Refer to the Queensland Reconstruction Authority website for more information.
